With over 30 years of experience in various roles both on and off stage at international tennis events, Soeren Friemel brings a wealth of expertise in event management to APG.

Soeren advanced through the officiating ranks, earning recognition for his expertise and dedication. He achieved the prestigious status of Gold Badge Chair Umpire, Referee, and Chief Umpire—the highest level of officiating—and was one of the few to hold all three Gold Badges simultaneously. As a key member of the ITF/Grand Slam Officiating team, Soeren played an integral role in officiating at all Grand Slam tournaments, as well as Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, WTA, and ATP events.

During his eight years as Head of Officiating for the ITF in London, Soeren worked closely with various ITF departments including the Olympic department. He served as the Chief of Umpires at the US Open for three years before being appointed as the Referee for two years, playing a pivotal role in one of the sport’s most prestigious events. Additionally, he worked as a Supervisor at multiple Grand Slam tournaments, upholding the highest standards of officiating. Besides his officiating career, Soeren has gained experience in event organization across various sports, including basketball and equestrian.

In March 2025, Soeren joined APG as Vice President, bringing his extensive event management expertise to the organization. In his new role at APG, he will lead and assist in APG’s operations while working on APG events with focus on exploring new markets and driving business development to expand APG’s global reach.
