Martina Hingis

Swiss-Born Martina Hingis is one of tennis’ most popular and successful players. Martina began playing tennis at the age of 2 and has achieved a long list of career highlights during her illustrious playing career.

After a brief retirement, Martina returned to the WTA in 2013 to exclusively play doubles. At the end of 2017, Martina holds 43 singles and 64 doubles titles including five Grand Slam Singles and seventeen Grand Slam Doubles crowns.

In 2013 and in recognition of Martina’s tremendous contribution to tennis, she was inducted into the International Hall of Fame.

In 2017, after the season ending finals, Martina announced her retirement from WTA tour for third time.

Off-the-court, Martina launched her own tennis clothing line in collaboration with Tonic apparel; Tonic Tennis by Martina Hingis, and is also a World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador of Polio Eradication.

Martina’s achievements include:

  • Youngest woman to rank #1 in WTA history.
  • 209 weeks at #1 in WTA Rankings
  • Youngest player in the Open Era to win the singles title at Wimbledon
  • Youngest Grand Slam Champion in the 20th century at the Australian Open (1997)
  • Led Switzerland to it’s only Fed Cup final in 1998
  • Became the youngest ever Junior Grand Slam winner at 1993 Roland Garros

Peng Shuai

Peng Shuai was born in Hunan, China and in February 2014, became the first Chinese player, (male or female) to achieve the Number 1 World Ranking in singles or doubles, an outstanding achievement: In 2014, she continued her incredible success claiming the French Open Doubles title and also making her first semi-final appearance in a Grand Slam at the US Open in New York.

Peng began playing tennis at the age of eight after being introduced to the sport by her uncle. During her highly successful WTA career, she has finished inside the top 50 of the WTA singles rankings in nine separate seasons, and achieved a career high ranking of 14 in August, 2011.

In 2013, she had an outstanding doubles year that saw her claim five titles including Wimbledon Ladies Doubles Championship and the WTA Championships crown with her playing partner Hsieh.

Off the court, she is a quiet person with a bubbly smile, who enjoys Chinese cuisine, reading, swimming and shopping. Peng Shuai was born in the year of the cow and has a lucky cow on her tennis bag whenever she competes.
